We at Travel Off Path love a secluded hideaway as much as anyone, but it’s become harder and harder to find them in the Sunshine State.
Florida continues it’s record-breaking tear setting new benchmarks year after year, which obviously means coastlines begin to feel squeezed as crowds flock their sun-drenched shores no matter the season.

There are few destinations across America with Caribbean-esque aesthetics and year-round sun, which is a match made in Heaven for most travelers.
Southern Living is hyping up one particular beach town as a hush-hush getaway with few tourists this summer, yet just as stunning as many of Florida’s most notable names.
With less crowds, golden beaches, and crashing waves of vibrant blue waters, who would turn away a chance to visit Jensen Beach, perhaps Florida’s ultimate relaxing summer escape?
Florida’s Best Kept Summer Secret

Remember that saying, ‘secrets, secrets, are no fun…’? Well, they lied. If you’re like me, you want to be in the know for all travel secrets rather than follow the crowds to such places as Miami and Orlando.
In Florida’s case, Southern Living revealed Jensen Beach as one of the state’s top secrets that locals want to keep under wraps, but hey, it’s a free country the last time I checked.
Jensen Beach should top your list of hidden gems to visit this summer. Let’s face it; there’s not that many left in Florida.
With classic Florida charm, riverside waterways on one side, and gorgeous Atlantic beaches on the other, there’s no shortage of outdoor fun and aquatic adventure in this off-the-radar town along the Treasure Coast, as it’s known.

You can kayak through mangrove passages, spot sea turtles, reel in a big catch, or turn into a human tomato beachside as the sunny days are endless come summertime.
Plus, who doesn’t love pina coladas? Well, Jensen Beach has been dubbed the “pineapple capital of the world”.
Jensen Beach’s Paradise: Hutchinson Island
You don’t have to venture across the Atlantic to find your perfect island getaway – it’s right here in Jensen Beach.
Hutchison Island is an expansive barrier island covering multiple counties, but Jensen Beach stakes claim to much of the island’s top draws, including rightfully named Jensen Sea Turtle Beach.
Any guesses what you’ll see there?

If witnessing sea turtles in their natural habitat has you drawn to Jensen, Waveland Beach is a common nesting ground and not only a top hidden spot in Jensen Beach, but the entire state.
This same time last year, a happy beachgoer wrote about Waveland saying, “Very clean beach, lifeguard on duty. Bathroom and wash spout available. Parking as well. Not too busy and not too slow. They had just enough people at the beach.”
The same goes for Virginia Forrest Beach with a slightly higher Google rating, where a recent visitor didn’t mince words saying it’s an “amazing private slice of heaven”.
There are numerous accommodations worth your while on the island too, ranging from name-brand hotels to cozy inns to grand resorts.

Brand loyalists will want to check out Marriott Hutchinson Island Beach Resort, Golf & Marina as low as $140 this summer.
Those who prefer cozier digs will love the delightful Oceanfront Inn on Hutchinson Island.
The grandest stay of all is Hutchinson Shores Resort & Spa, an Opal property with sweeping ocean views and just a 7-minute walk from Jensen Beach Park, arguably the most popular beach of all here.
Best Way To Reach Jensen Beach
One reason Jensen Beach has remained tight-lipped is because it’s not located near any major airports.

The juice wouldn’t be worth the squeeze flying into popular hubs like Orlando or Miami. The airport that makes the most sense is Palm Beach (PBI) as it’s under an hour away.
That being said, Jensen Beach is primarily a locals’ favorite hideaway, so not many travelers are flying in, but PBI does serve numerous major cities., so finding an easy flight won’t be an issue.
